Guidelines in Metastatic Rcc

چکیده
primary endpoint, but also the secondary endpoints that should corroborate the primary endpoint, will stand. This approach is based on the Prentice principle, which states that a result has a higher probability of being truly positive if other related endpoints are also positive 1. An advantage in progression-free survival (pfs) has more chance of being true if a statistically significant advantage is also present for other aspects of efficacy such as response rate, time to treatment failure, and survival (if these data are available). Remembering the Prentice principle, it will therefore be the prerogative of the editorial nature of the present paper to determine whether recommendations present in more than one guideline are likely to have a potential to affect practice. This paper also tries to comment on the reasons for the selection of certain treatment options and whether previous recommendations based on older data still apply in view of the treatment options that have so drastically modified the prognosis and survival of patients with metastatic rcc.

Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma to the Humerus Bone: A Report of Two Cases
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is an aggressive malignancy which can metastasize to the bone. Long bones or the small bones of the limbs could be rarely the destinations for metastatic RCCs. We report two cases of metastatic RCC to the humerus bone with the initial presentation of pathological fracture. The pathologists must be aware of metastatic RCC to the arm and consider it in the differential ...
متن کاملReview of guidelines on the treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma
Guidelines on the management of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) have emerged over the last couple of years because of the introduction of effective new targeted therapies. However, current guidelines are not always contemporary because of older data whose relevance is unclear in the context of the new therapies. Moreover, many of the relevant trials were interrupted prematurely because of...
متن کاملCurrent management of advanced and metastatic renal cell carcinoma.
INTRODUCTION Unresectable renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a technically incurable condition. Historically, RCC is resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Cytokine therapy was until recently considered the mainstay of treatment. However, responses are modest. Improvement in the understanding of the biology of RCC, particularly the hereditary types, is providing the basis for novel therapeutic ...
متن کاملMetastatic Renal cell Carcinoma Presenting as a clear-cell Tumor in Tongue: A Case Report
Introduction: Metastatic lesions of the oral cavity are extremely rare, accounting for approximately 1% of all malignant oral tumors. The most common primary sources of metastatic tumors in the oral region are, from the most to the least common, the breast, lung, kidney, bone, and colon. Renal cell carcinoma accounts for nearly 3% of all adult malignancies. It usually metastasizes to the lungs,...
متن کاملMetastatic Renal Cell Cancer and a Gastric Mass: An Unusual Finding
Renal cell cancer (RCC) accounts for approximately 3% of all adult malignancies. RCC has a metastasis rate of approximately 25%, which is most commonly to the lungs (>50%). On the contrary, RCC metastasis to the gastrointestinal tract (excluding the liver) is very uncommon and ranges from 0.2 to 0.7%. Thus, a gastric cancer in a patient with known metastatic RCC would most likely be secondary t...
متن کاملQuick Score and H-Score Assessment of P504s (AMACR) Expression in Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) and Relation with Histologic Grade
Background and Aims: P504S (AMACR) is a mitochondrial enzyme expressed in renal cell carcinoma. Some of immunohistochemical markers in renal cell tumors are independent prognostic factor and show relation with histologic grading. AMACR expression increases with higher histological grading in different tumors; however, in RCC it is not obvious. In this study, we tried to investigate if ...
